Van Deusen Gardens

Today we spent a delightful afternoon strolling around Van Deusen Gardens here in Vancouver . This time we took a guided tour of the 43 acre park, and got to see some new parts of the garden. The guide was really interesting and shared some history with us ...

>A< The good old pacific cedar tree is actually not a ceder tree but part of the cypress tree family.

>B< The Douglas fir tree is named after some Scottish dude (Douglas) who took the species back to Scotland to re-plant after it was lost post ice-age. Actually, I'm going to check this story out on Wikipedia.
