Pacifc North-West Odyssey

We're back in the Land of Apple-Pie taking care of business. Whilst we are here, we'll visit a few of our fave places to pass the time.

After a 90 min wait at the border, we crossed and headed off to our first destination - Port Angeles to sort stuff and visit M's grandpa. With wide open highways we cruised South to Whidbey Island to catch the ferry to Port Townsend. En route, we stopped off at one of our fave places - Deception Pass to take pictures (of course!). After much admiration of the beauty headed onwards to the ferry.

We had an hour wait for the ferry so we walked the beach, checked out the drift-wood and picked up some granite stones for our garden. In the parking lot there was this hippy kid from Oregon slumped in a old chair in the back of a pick-up truck, strumming away on his guitar. I asked him "Hey, Mind if I take your picture for my blog?", "No! Go ahead dude -- take my picture". So I did :)

The Ferry ride was epic and familiar as sunset approached. I travelled on the Washington State Ferrys twice a day for several years when we lived on Vashon Island. Half way we passed the shipping lane and a huge Japanese container ship that was producing a huge wake. The captain broadcasted over the sound system that "we are going to pass through a big wake, and the folks with the nice Harley's below might want to go and stand by them - we'll be rocking hard!" Sure enough we rocked hard from side-to-side. Pretty kool :)

After stopping of for coffee in Port Townsend, which by-the-way is charming Victorian town with lovely homes/buildings we headed off to P.A via Discovery Bay (which thinking about was probably named after Captain Vancouver's ship! .. to be researched later.) We saw some picturesque vistas and stopped off for a break at the Indian Reservation for erm, more pictures! then finally cruised out to P.A. listening to Alice In Chains.

9 Hours after leaving our house we arrive, gave Grandpa the Girl Scout Cookies we picked up for him and settled down to watched FreeDive on the Discovery Channel. Good times, he's a great man.
