Franz Ferdinand & Death Cab For Cutie

Oz being the production manager for the Franz tour generously gave us some great seats to last Fridays show. Thanks Oz! The show was a great end to long week off coding.

First up was Death Cab. Now, I've been aware of this band for years as they're a Seattle band, but I'd never actually heard them. As M remembers them, they used to be quite an underground band and sounded rawer. Anyways, we both really enjoyed them. The sound was rich, even complicated - the kids loved them! Check out them out on MySpace HERE

Before leaving the set they oddly announced 5 gorillas had escaped from the local zoo? What?

Last up was Franz Ferdinand. Arrriving on the stage to some fine old celtic war song they launched into their set. Jarring us with tight thumping sounds they banged out their riffs we all love. Good stuff! They marched through the set, bantering away (like it, like it .. can't stand bands that don't address their audience). Playing their hit "Take Me Out" the kids went nuts. Out came those 5 escaped gorillas, jumping around in Franz-Ferdinand shirts. Luckily before animal control arrived and tranqualized them, it turned out to be Death Cab dressed up as gorillas. Those guys! I tell you. You know there's something about 5 guys dressed as gorillas on-stage, I know my MadChester mates had a crack-pot idea to do it and play cover tunes on a tiny keyboard. Sounded great after 1 to many happy pops.LOL. A great night out, ending with a great walk home on a warm night. Ahhhhh!
