4th Of July - Awwww Yeahhh!
Happy 4th of July - Independence Day to all my family and friends in the USA.
It's always a great celebration and I have many good memories .. my fave 4th Of July's where always heading out on Lake Union in Hackett's boat. Captain Hackett graciously - and amazingly - was the designated boat driver for this celebration. Usually we'd bake in the sun all day drinking beer, eating good food until the sunset - a Chinook helicopter would fly over trailing the biggest flag you've ever seen - then the fireworks would commence. Enough fireworks to blow the DeathStar shot into the sky - bigger than any Bonfire Night. After a long days drinking in the sun - Iswear I saw a Jimi Hendrix firework expand in the heavens more than once ... hahahaha. So today - Captain Hackett where ever you maybe in the USA ... I raise this beer to you and say "Awwwww Yeahhhhh, I hope our paths cross once more one day.."
...
More than once people asked me "What are you celebrating for?". Dang good question ... and I always said .. " 'Cuz where taking it back. It's only on lease you know.". Man we messed up (The English) .. particularly in the Pacific Northwest ... we had it all man. Paradise and we lost it. Too think .. all this outside of my window could be and was English. Awwww buggggerrrrrr.
So to all my great friends in America - my family - Have a nice day.
San Juan Island
M and I headed over to San Juan Island for our summer holidays. Located in between USA and Canada it is a super natural splendor featuring lots of epic scenery .. The Olympic National Park (WA state), The Cascades (WA State) & Vancouver Island (BC, Canada).
We spent four magical days relaxing and checking out all of our fave spots - Limekiln Park (the only official whale watching park in the USA), English Camp, American Camp, Roche Harbour, Friday Harbour + Cattle Point.
We checked out all the wildlife -- orca whales (we was having a picnic on the beach and they swam past!), fox pups, deer, sheep, a camel!, eagles, hawks.
The island is by far our favourite of all the islands - American & Canadian. It has a lot of charm, good mix of nature & town ... plus the views are spectacular. The whole island is awash with Californian Poppys - one of my fave flowers. Ahh, take me back..
